Universal Consumer Products – Crash Bandicoot |
|
Boardwalk created the branding program and style guide for the first-ever licensing program based on a successful video game, Crash Bandicoot.
At the time, most American children were intimately familiar with the whirlwind experience of playing the game. However, most licensees – adults – were not. Yet, to attract the kids to licensed merchandise, the products had to evoke the same experience as the game play. To be useful to licensees, the style guide had to be comprehensive and energetic, allowing them to infuse their lines with Crash-style energy and fun.
The guide contained logos, slogans, patch art, tile-able patterns, borders, icons, color palette, font family and product applications, character art, backgrounds and packaging samples.
One packaging suggestion was picked up by the toy licensee and used as is.
